Abstract

This article discusses the role of energy in the development of countries, focusing specifically on hydropower plants (HPPs). It also outlines the emergence and stages of development of the hydropower sector in Uzbekistan. The article highlights ongoing reforms and the establishment of “Uzbekhydroenergo” JSC, along with its assigned responsibilities. Information is provided regarding the establishment and temporary cessation of the HPP Kudash located in the Fergana region, as well as its subsequent re-launch after 40 years. The views of industry experts on the utilization of HPPs are notably emphasized in the text.
