THE INFLUENCING FUNCTION OF THE MEDIA LANGUAGE
Abstract
The language used in the mass media plays a crucial role in shaping public consciousness and influencing the opinions, attitudes and behavior of individuals. This article examines the influencing function of the media language and its importance in shaping public discourse. Drawing on the theories of communication studies and linguistics, we explore how the language of mass media uses persuasion techniques to convey specific messages and ideologies. We analyze the strategies used by the media to influence public opinion through linguistic means such as framing, rhetoric, and manipulation of linguistic norms. In addition, we discuss the ethical implications of the influence of media language and its impact on democratic processes. Understanding the power of media language is essential for media professionals, politicians, and the general public to be critical of media reports and maintain a well-informed and insightful public sphere.
