CONSTRUCTION OF NEW IRRIGATION SYSTEMS
Abstract
On February 1, 1963, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan and the Council of Ministers adopted decision No. 75 on "Construction of the Amu-Bukhara Car Canal (ABK)". In this way, the construction of the next artery of the new irrigation system of the region was started. The main goal of the construction of the canal was to improve the water supply of 66,000 irrigated areas of the region and to irrigate 24,000 newly acquired lands. The construction of ABK increased the volume and scope of irrigation of the irrigated lands of the region with Amu water. It was also achieved to reach 100% water supply. Taking into account the great importance of the canal for agriculture, the Council of Ministers of the Uzbek SSR decided to study the experience of the construction of the Karakum canal in the territory of the Turmanistan SSR. For this purpose, on March 29-30, 1958, the chief engineer of the Uzbek waterworks - BPQurbanov, the author of the project of the Amu-Bukhara machine canal - LDDanilova, the head of the Bukhara irrigation systems NSVolik, the head of Kuyimozor SMU M.Sh.Shimolchuk organized a visit to the Karakum canal. The Karakum Canal was similar to the ABK project in important aspects, such as passing through sand dunes and raising water by car. With careful preparation, stable financial support and involvement of modern equipment and technologies, the channel was successfully launched in 1965. The water of the Amu-Bukhara machine canal was used by the Shafirkon and Vobkent-Darya irrigation systems.
